David Cooper M.Res., ILM.
I first became fascinated with and absorbed in local history and the military history of Staffordshire approaching 40 years ago now.
I find the Volunteer and Regular Regiments of Staffordshire up until the end of the Great War and The English Civil War conflict within the Midlands generally and Staffordshire in particular of great interest.
Now with two works on the Staffordshire Regiments already published and available, a third work on Cauldon Lowe School and Village about to be published, and a forth work that looks at the effect on the English Civil War 1642-1649 on the market Town of Uttoxeter completed for my Masters degree and pre-published in a local history journal prior to full publication in its own right, I thought it high time to create my own little web site marketing and distributing these Staffordshire history titles.
Books of this type cannot be written without the help of many people and organisations, chief amongst these are Carole, my wife, Matthew, Jessica and Nicholas my children, who have shown endless patience, my Mother who has proof-read hundreds of A4 sheets on various unfamiliar Staffordshire related topics for hours on end and helped in the compiling of the texts and my father who has taken many digital photographs for the illustrations. There has also been a whole host of others including Dr's Atherton, Morgan and Tringham of Keele University, archivists, museum curators, local historians, librarians, collectors and enthusiasts who have helped and encouraged me during my research and compilation. To all those who have given generously of their time and who have shared their knowledge I ackowledge my debt and gratitude. .
This combined assistance has made the writing of these works a journey of pleasure and discovery which I hope my readers can also now share in.
